“DVSA colleagues do an outstanding job in helping to keep our roads safe and are working to bring waiting times down.

“We are pleased the talks with PCS union have been successful, and the planned industrial action on 8-11 February will not go ahead.

“I am grateful to the DVSA and PCS negotiating teams for the productive discussions and their commitment to resolving the issues. “Driving test candidates with tests booked between 8 – 11 February should attend their test as planned”.

Practical car driving tests

• In December 2023, 152,474 practical car driving tests were carried out as a result of examiners’ hard work and effort.• This is the highest number of tests done in December since records began and helped to reduce the monthly average national driving test waiting time to 17.4 weeks in December

Planned strikes by driving examiners have been called off after PCS won significant concessions from Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency bosses.
